FAITH FORMATION

"Will you continue in the apostles' teaching and
fellowship, in the breaking of the bread, and in the
prayers?"

"I will, with God's help"
(The Book of Common Prayer)

Christian Formation

Christian formation is the lifelong process of growing in relationship with God, self, others, and all creation. In this process, we are transformed into the people God wants us to be.

Through Faith Formation, we are invited to a life of prayer, service, education, and worship; inspired to experience our faith journey through the lens of worship, scripture, reason, and tradition; and are transformed to live into our baptismal promises, serving, witnessing, empowering, and being accountable as followers of Jesus.

At Christ the King, Christian Formation is..

1. Lifelong - Formation is an ongoing process that provides safe spaces for children, youth, and adults to explore, play, ask questions, share stories, learn, lead, and grow.

2. Communal - Formation occurs in the parish and diocesan community that shapes the disciple in the person God created them to be.

3. Informational, Formational, and Transformational

  • Informational in that it imparts knowledge of the faith, bible, creeds, world, and church, and how to live with and in them.

  • Formational in that it nurtures identity and lifestyle to conform to Christ.

  • Transformational in that it promotes personal and social change (ie. transformation) according to the principles of the kingdom of God preached by Jesus.
